America, just like, far too much, of the rest of the world, seems to be experiencing, too much of the politics of HATE, and, far too little, empathetic, unifying behavior from our political leaders, and much of their followers! The reality is, Love always trumps hate, in the longer – term, because it unifies, and brings people together, for the common good, towards an essential, quality, meaningful, meeting – of – the – minds! Few, remember, in recent memory, the degree of hatred, prejudice, bigotry, and polarization, we are currently witnessing! The United States appears to be, as divided, as it ever has been, at least, since the Civil War. Rather than taking personal responsibility, public officials, seem to be taking, a path, of least resistance, in order to serve their personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self – interest, instead of the greater good! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.

1. Humanity/ humane; humility; healing; head/ heart: In my lifetime, I’ve never seen, any previous political official, exhibit, as little, basic humanity, or humane concerns! President Trump could use, extra doses of humility, and personal responsibility, in addition to focusing on healing the divides, instead of polarizing this nation, with his rhetoric, vitriol, and perceived, hatred, towards certain segments of society. We could use someone, willing to use, both a well – developed, logical component, with a mature, emotional one, in a head/ heart balance!

2. Attitude; aptitude; attention; actions: Negativity, generally, is divisive, and tends to perceive, every obstacle, as a problem, instead of a challenge, to overcome! When a public leader proceeds with a genuine, positive, can – do, attitude, combined with a well – developed, relevant aptitude, our citizens benefit! Instead of proceeding with the mindset of, My way or the highway, we need elected officials, to pay keen attention, to the best way, to bring us together! This must go beyond the empty promises, and rhetoric, stage, but must, strategically, move forward, with a well – considered, action plan!

3. Tendencies; timely; time – tested: Great public leadership comes from identifying the tendencies, and addressing them, proactively, in a well – considered, timely way, which balances, making changes, for the better, and, combining that, with knowing and understanding the relevant, time – tested knowledge!

4. Empathy; emphasis; endurance; establish: Wouldn’t we be better served and represented, if leaders, were ready, willing and able, to effectively listen, and learn, from every conversation and experience, and proceed, with genuine empathy? This must direct their emphasis, and they need the endurance to persist, with a strategic, action plan! What a public official, establishes, often, determines, a relevant, sustainable path forward!

Don’t let hatred and bigotry, diminish the American way of life, and the Constitutional guarantees of life, liberty, freedom, and justice, for all! Demand that love trumps HATE!
