Dutch Designer Dewi van de Klomp’s foam shelves are definitely a sight to behold. The anamorphic furniture does not only showcase what the overlooked material is capable of but also presents a concept that is so intriguing in its execution. Through various compositions, the creative strives to exhibit a series of objects that rely on “the poetic side” of the material.
The Utrecht-based designer titles her collection of foam shelves ‘Soft Cabinet.’ For their construction, van de Klomp harnesses foam rubber, which is typically used for the cushioning of car seats, as well as wall insulation. What is interesting about the furniture silhouettes is that they take on the shape depending on what is stored in them—from glassware to magazines.
