The Business of Politics

A lobbyist works on behalf of a person, group, or particular interest organization to help influence legislators or some other governmental entity.

Some examples:

Variants of dynasty trusts include a life insurance policy. Because the insurance company lobby is so influential in national and state legislatures, life insurance proceeds in an irrevocable life insurance dynasty trust are exempt from income and estate taxes.

Interest groups are comprised of organizations of people with a particular interest in a common cause. They garner their strengths collectively to advance their agenda on a political level.

Lobbying in an organized fashion has been going on for over a hundred years in the United States.

Lobbying is not only for the rich and powerful; constituents also have the power to form special interest groups with the intent of pushing an agenda of interest to their common cause.

Some popular online movements are Moveon.org and Change.org. And there are hundreds of mass social movements lobbying for social change.
