Education is a lifelong endeavor that many adults seek throughout their lives. It’s not only recommended in today’s society its a necessity.

There are many reentry employment opportunities under the auspices of Workforce Development Programs at the local, state, and federal government levels. These programs are open to individuals from various backgrounds including:

  • Formerly incarcerated individuals
  • Those who have been out of the job markets for periods of time
  • Individuals who have low-skilled work histories.
  • Individuals over the age of 50

These programs provide a relevant curriculum that focuses on emerging industry sectors including healthcare, technology, and manufacturing, career training programs that prepare adult students for new careers in the industries that are hiring now and into the foreseeable future. Program models offer work-based learning opportunities, including apprenticeships, and models that exhibit strong partnerships with employers. 

Under the US Department of Labor: The Employment and Training Administration administers federal job training and dislocated worker programs, federal grants to states for public employment service programs, and unemployment insurance benefits. These services are primarily provided through state and local workforce development systems.
