DOCUMENTARY – I travelled with ChildFund to rural Kenya and Uganda. The region had been hit with extreme drought lasting over two years – the UN declared it “the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII”.
Our objective was to film content showing emergency response, early childhood development centres, innovative agricultural methods, and medical centres in remote areas specialising in treatment for women and children. Because the conditions and security of the area were extremely sensitive, we could only film for a total of five days. During that time we captured enough footage to produce over 30 pieces of content which aired across NZ & Australian TV and on ChildFund digital platforms. The main camera we used was the Arri Alexa with cine prime lenses. It wasn’t the most nimble rig but it gave everything we shot a high-end, cinema quality that made the footage dynamic and engaging to watch which hopefully helped ChildFund reach more supporters. This was hands-down the most intense and rewarding job I’ve ever done.
This is the final video we made using footage from all five days to thank ChildFund sponsors for their continued support.
